What science ideas did you learn?

We learned that lasers travel straight and don't spread out. We also learned that if there is no light you won't be able to see anything.

How did you learn these ideas?

We learned these ideas by observing what the laser did when we did different things to it (shining it through water, fiber optics, glass ect.). When we realized something we came up with a hypothesis

One example is that we observed that the laser traveled from the laser pointer to the wall so our question was "How does the laser pointer travel?" Next we came up with a hypothesis: The laser travels straight. After that we tested it by shining the laser through smoke machine smoke. So our HD statement was "If lasers travel straight and we shine a laser through smoke machine smoke then we should see a red beam of light"

We also learned that it is impossible to see when there is NO light.

Question: Can you see when there is no light?

Hypothesis: No you cannot see and your eyes will not adjust so you can see

Test: Go inside a room with NO light for 5 min and try to read something

HD: If it is impossible to see in a room with NO and we go in a room with NO light and try to read something then we should not be able to read.

Why is this important to know?

This is important to know because it explains why some animals have adapted and don't have eye's that work very well (bat). Also if you are watching a spy movie and a person can "see in the dark" then you know it is false.
